Let Tuk Tuk Safari take you on an insider’s safari around Vientiane. We’ll take you off the beaten path to a few places that only locals know to get to know more about Laos and Vientiane, and experience the everyday lives of Lao people.
After being picked up by our tuk tuk, we’ll take you for a breakfast of delicious ban guan, or breakfast rice paper rolls, freshly made for you! Then visit a local fresh food market to check out the amazing diversity of Lao food, then stop by a Lao coffee shop to try some of the local brew.
Drop by a family-run silversmith producing intricate Lao traditional and modern pieces and see how this traditional craft is being continued in the family. Pop into a local coffee shop to relax with the locals and try coffee the Lao way. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a secret Lao restaurant hidden down a residential lane-way, popular with both locals and expats.
After lunch head off to the COPE Visitors Centre where you will get to know more about the ongoing challenges with unexploded ordinance (UXO) that Lao people face on a daily basis. Learn about the amazing and inspirational activities that support people affected by UXOs. Then it’s time to go to temple! First visit a shop producing offerings for the temple where you’ll learn how traditional Lao Buddhist banana leaf and wax flower offerings are made. Have a go at making one yourself if you like. Then select an offering (optional) to take to Wat Simueang, one of the city’s most popular local temples, and learn more about Lao Buddhist traditions.
